A conveyor furnace for heat treating a regular succession of articles (19) consists of a circular carrier (10) mounted for rotation about an upright axis below a fixed guide (17) of open coiled spiral configuration and fixed radiant heaters (20) directed through parts of the guide (17). A feed tube (18) delivers the articles (19) to an inner part of the guide (17) on to the carrier (10) whereon they are carried in sliding engagement with the guide (17), around and progressively outwards towards a discharge point (22). While on the carrier (10), the articles (19) are heated by the heaters (20). The furnace is compact, economical in operation and permits of relatively simple and reliable construction. |
