A description is given of a dowel comprising a dowel body (1) and a conical expanding mandrel (2) which can be introduced into the dowel body and has a bore which runs through it in the longitudinal direction and exhibits a nipple connection. In the case of said dowel, the expanding mandrel (2) is arranged to be displaceable in the longitudinal direction by impact or pressure and, in the expandable region, the dowel body (1) is surrounded by a casing (11) consisting of soft and resilient material. <IMAGE>
