PURPOSE:To increase fastening force of a plug and an adapter, to permit easy attaching and detacing operation and to increase durability by fitting a housing for contg. a ferrule, etc. fixed with an optical fiber to the adapter thereby constituting an optical fiber connector. CONSTITUTION:An adapter 6 is formed with a hollow hole to be inserted therein with a cylindrical ferrule 9 on the central axis thereof and cantilevers beams 7a, 7a' of a plug and the outside thereof is made into a reactangular shape. The adapter has a face 7b of the rectangular outside shape to be inserted into the 2nd husing. The top end part of the housing 8 when the plug is inserted therein contacts with the flange of the adapter 6 and the projections 8b, 8b' at the top ends of the beams 8a, 8a' are fitted and detained into grooves 7c, 7c, by which the movement in the optical axis direction is controlled. The top ends of the beams 7a, 7a' of the housing 7 are grasped between the housing 8 and the grooves 6a, 6a' of the adapter 6. |
