The device (1) has a receiving part (2) with a receiving plate (6), to the underside of which two clamping jaws (12) are linked via pivot pins (13). On their curved sections (12'), the clamping jaws (12) each have a receiving pin (15). The receiving pins (15) are allocated to the mounting holes (a') of a spring ring (a). Furthermore, a longitudinally displaceable V-block (19) acts against the curved sections (12'), while a longitudinally displaceable retaining part (27) is provided in the articulation area of the clamping jaws (12). The retaining part (27) has a fixing lug (34) with an inclined surface (35) which holds the spring ring (a) in a fixed position at its internal circumferential surface. To insert the spring ring (a) into the peripheral groove of a housing bore, first of all the receiving pins (15) are inserted into the mounting holes (a') and then the V-block (19) is pressed against the curved sections (12'), as a result of which the spring ring (a) is radially compressed. In the process, the spring ring (a) is fixed by the retaining part (27) perpendicularly to the ring plane. After the spring ring (a) is arranged in the housing bore in the area of the peripheral groove, the V-block (19) is shifted back into its initial position, as a result of which the clamping jaws (12) and thus the spring ring (a) spring back into their initial position and the latter is thus resiliently fixed in the peripheral groove. <IMAGE>
