PURPOSE:To attach firmly a protection plate to a magnetic head element by sticking a protection plate to a thin film magnetic head and forming a ferromagnetic plating layer covering both the protection plate and the magnetic head element. CONSTITUTION:A protection plate 7 is stuck to a thin film magnetic head element 6 with an adhesive 8, and a ferromagnetic plating layer 9 is formed over the element 6 and the plate 7. The side face of the layer 9 is polished accurately to expose a tape contact surface 10. Thus both the element 6 and the plate 7 can be fixed firmly to avoid the variance between them due to a subsequent mechanical process as well as the exfoliation of the adhered surface due to the tape rubbing heat and the generation of a level difference. Then the layer 9 is set opposite to the tape rubbing surface to improve the wear resistance of a magnetic head. |
