A vane pump is often fitted with a flow-regulating valve (21) which allows part of the delivery stream, which increases as the speed of the pump increases, to flow back to the intake port (9) of the pump via a so-called ejection duct (28). In this arrangement, the ejection duct (28) is connected to the intake port (9) via an angularly arranged longitudinal duct (30). In order to minimise the deflection resistances in the transition range from the ejection duct (28) to the longitudinal channel (30), a plug (30) having a curved groove (32) whose cross-section is approximately semicircular is pressed into the ejection duct (28) (Figure 1). <IMAGE>
