Apparatus for trimming wall coverings of any kind which have been bonded immediately previously

A light-weight and hence conveniently handled apparatus is provided for trimming wall coverings of any type which have been bonded immediately previously and for cutting wall coverings or thin webs of PVC or a similar material. In this apparatus, a knife, adjustable as to length, is accommodated in a guide in a multi-part flat housing. The knife is driven via a cam disc which is affixed to the drive shaft of a motor accommodated in the housing, in such a manner that, with every rotation of the motor drive shaft, the knife executes at least one upward-and downward-directed stroke movement. If the apparatus according to the invention is moved along one edge, a smooth cut is performed by means of the upward-and downward-moving knife, for example on an affixed wall covering. In order to enable a used knife blade to be reground, a grinding disc is also provided. In order that the knife can be removed from the guide and/or adjusted in respect of its length, the guide is pivotably mounted on the housing. Moreover, the knife and the guide can be provided with oblique or horizontal cutting edges, so that, during the stroke movements of the knife, a wall covering or web-shaped material can be cut as if with scissors.
