In the case of repair and servicing tasks on cooling systems of large transformers, from time to time it is necessary to replace shut-off devices (2, 3) from their pipelines (1). In the past, before removal of the shut-off devices, it was necessary to drain all the fluid coolant, and to prepare it again in a time-consuming and costly process, before reuse. According to the invention, it is proposed to mount a cap (4) containing a plug on the side of the shut-off device facing away from the transformer, the plug of which cap (4) is pushed through the shut-off device (2, 3) once the latter has been opened, into the connected pipeline end (1) and is anchored there while at the same time sealing the pipe, so that, thereafter, it is possible to replace the shut-off device without draining the coolant out of the transformer. <IMAGE>
