A headrest for motor vehicle seats has a support frame which is enclosed by a frame-shaped or annular foamed upholstered element. The support frame constitutes an inverted U-shaped bar whose ends form, outside the foamed upholstered body, the insertion ends held in the seat backrest. The insertion ends are connected to one another inside the foamed upholstered body, if appropriate via a lower transverse web. The foamed upholstered body receives the support frame in a locking snap-in fashion in a demoulded cavity. In the region of its larger cross-sectional width, the demoulded cavity lies with its inner face over a predominantly circumferential length of the support frame profile against the said profile. The demoulded cavity has a cross-sectional area which narrows outwardly with pliant junctions in a droplet or gusset-shape, the said area being continued in a demoulded joint or fitting joint. The demoulded joint or fitting joint opens outwardly and follows the contour of the support frame over the entire length.
