In a cooling device, an evaporator 9, which is foamed into the heat-insulating layer 3 surrounding an inner container 2, is arranged outside the inner container 2. In order to avoid water diffusion from the interior 5 of the inner container 2 towards the evaporator 9, a layer 7 resistant to water diffusion is applied to the side wall 4 of the inner container facing the evaporator 9. The layer 7 preferably consists in this case of an aluminium foil which is stuck onto the side wall 4 without bubbles and the edges 11 of which project all around laterally beyond the surface covered by the evaporator 9. <IMAGE>
