<p>2-Arylimidazolinones of the formula <IMAGE> where A is O, S, NH or N-alkyl; B is, inter alia, CN, a carboxylate, thiocarboxylate or carboxamido group; X is alkyl, Y is alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, phenyl or benzyl, or X and Y together with C are a spirocycloalkyl group; Z is H, (substituted) alkyl, alkenyl, propargyl, an acyl, carboxylate or sulpho ester group; n is 1 - 3; R<1> - R<4> are alkyl, alkoxy, alkoxycarbonyl, halogen, NO2, CN, (substituted) phenoxy, (substituted) phenyl, or in each case two adjacent radicals are the radical -CH=CH-CH=CH-; and R<5> and R<6> are H, alkyl or phenyl, are effective herbicides and growth regulators.</p> |
