PURPOSE:To prevent the corrosion of a lining material without deteriorating refining characteristics by adding alumina and/or lime to molten slag to increase the viscosity of the slag. CONSTITUTION:When molten iron is desulfurized and dephosphorized with a sodium-base treating agent, 2-30wt% powdery alumina and/or 2-10wt% powdery lime is added to molten slag basing on 100wt% molten slag. The viscosity of the molten slag is increased to inhibit the penetration of the slag into the structure of a lining material and to reduce the rate of corrosion. Bauxite, sintered alumina or the like is used as said alumina, and limestone, calcined lime or the like as said lime. |
