PURPOSE:To produce a 2,2-bis-halomethylpenum deriv. at a high raw material yield by electrolyzing a disulfide in a medium in the presence of a halogenic acid or halogen salt. CONSTITUTION:The disulfide expressed by the formula (II) is dissolved in a 10- 500% hydrous org. solvent such as acetonitrile, tetrahydrofuran or the like in an electrolytic cell using Pt, etc. as anode and Pb, etc. as cathode and a solvent dissolving a halogenic acid such as HCl or halogen salt such as MgCl2, MgBr2 or the like is put therein. Electrolysis is executed at 5-50mA/cm<2> current density in a -20-50 deg.C range with such soln. as an electrolyte. The electrolyte is concd. in the reduced pressure state upon ending of the electrolysis and chloroform and water are added thereto to make extraction. The chloroform layer is dried by anhydrous Na2SO4 and the residue is subjected to chromatographic process by using a silica gel column, by which the 2,2-bis-halomethylvenum deriv. expresses by the formula ( I ) is produced at a high yield. |
