PURPOSE:To obtain grains narrow in grain diameter distribution and uniform in diameter by using a mixer for mixing an aq. halide soln. with an aq. silver salt soln. and ejecting the mixture as an upright flow, and arranging above said mixer a flow control plate for turning the upright flow to a horizontal flow and capable of being moved to an optimum position automatically in accordance with the feed rates of both solns. CONSTITUTION:An aq. soln. of gelatin and NaCl, and an aq. slon. of silver nitrate are fed into the bottom opening of the cylindrical vertical mixer 2 in a reaction vessel 1 through a feed pipe 3, and a feed pipe 3', respectively, and they are mixed with blades 4 fixed to a stirring rotary shaft 5, and ejected through the opening 6 of the upper part of the mixer 2 as an upright flow. This ejected soln. mixture is turned in flow direction into a horizontal outward flow with the flow control disc 7 arranged just under the surface of an aq. colloidal soln. in the vessel 1. The position of the disc 7 is fed to a computer 9 with an angle change detector 8, also both solns. feed rates are fed to the computer 9 with flow rate detectors 10, 10', and the drive motor of the disc 7 is actuated to move the disc 7 to the always optimum position, thus permitting an emulsion uniform in grain diameter and high in sensitivity to be prepared. |
