Process for the preparation of tocopherol concentrates

A tocopherol concentrate, containing a high tocopherol concentration, can be obtained with a high yield by subjecting a deodorised distillate, formed as a by-product in the deodorisation stage of oils and fats, to an esterification of the free fatty acids by addition of an alcohol or by removing the free fatty acids by distillation, and then by subjecting the product to hydrogenation. A tocopherol concentrate can also be obtained by subjecting a deodorised distillate to esterification by addition of a polyhydric alcohol and then to a distillation. Concentrates having high contents and qualities can be obtained with a high yield and which are very effective during use.
