PURPOSE:To enable formation of a one-component magnetic developer to a thin layer without clogging and to a thick layer having a uniform thickness by controlling the thickness of the developer layer by means of a prescribed roll member. CONSTITUTION:The thickness of the one-component magnetic developer formed on a developer carrying body 5 is controlled by a roll member 10 which rotates in the direction opposite to the rotating direction of the body 5 and consists of a non-magnetic material having ruggedness on the surface. If said member 10 is used, such clogging which arises when a blade is used is eliminated and a thin layer of the one-component type magnetic developer is formed. The uniform layer, as thick as >=150mum, of the one-component magnetic developer is thus formed without the ununiformity which arises when the control member made of a magnetic material is used. |
