The tested material S reflects a part of the incident electromagnetic wave and the horn antenna A receives the reflected light and separates a component Epr having the same polarized wave as that of the incident wave and a crossed polarized component Ecr having a polarized component rectangular to the component Epr to measure the component Ecr. In addition, measurement based upon a transmission method can be similarly performed and the simultaneous detection of the crossed polarized components of both the reflected wave and transmitted wave can be also attained.
