The cathode heating arrangement for a high-power electron tube (3) consists of a conventional transformer (5) with a small air gap and a low stray inductance, and of an NTC thermistor element (2) for limiting the current in the circuit of the cathode (4) which is to be heated. Alternatively, a rectifier (6) can also be used for DC heating. These measures result in the creation of an arrangement which is arranged in a relatively small space, extends the life of the tube and contributes to a considerable cost reduction. <IMAGE>
