Process and associated facility for producing insulating and covering slabs, in particular for the building industry

The process consists in calibrating, felting and layering fibrous material in order to form a plurality of fibrous layers (A2) which are wound in the form of a strip onto bobbins (68) (Figure 6a). The strip of fibrous layers (A2) is disposed on an end layer (A1) which is unwound from bobbins (60), and within the structure of the said layers (A2) there is distributed uniformly (40) a mixture consisting of a polymerizable resin and a mineral filler in powder form. The composite strip obtained is conveyed to an oven (76) (Figure 6b) which polymerizes the binder; on the composite strip there is disposed another layer (A4) which completes the slab. A plurality of pressures is applied to the composite strip obtained, in succession and by means of a calender (84) and press (92), in a direction perpendicular to the superimposed fibrous layers. Simultaneously the temperature of these layers is checked in order to impart the required compactness to the slab obtained. <IMAGE>
