PURPOSE:To obtain a test equipment with high accuracy through simple operation by comparing and collating a standard picture compression data generated from the 1st storage section and a picture compression data from the 2nd storage section to test a picture compressing function at a picture input device. CONSTITUTION:When a main control section 10 gives a command of issue of a test instruction write, an image control section 20 let a picture scanning system 22 scan a picture and stores the picture data to the 1st storage section 23 and also supplies the result to a compression function section 24, where the data is subject to compression processing and the result is fed to the 2nd storage section 25. The control section 10 generates a test command read so as to command the start of collation of a picture compression data, the storage section 23 transmits sequentially a non-compression picture data to a picture standard compression section 13, from which an expected value picture compression data is transmitted. Then the control section 10 inputs the picture compression data stored in the 2nd storage section 25 to a collation section 14 in synchronizing with the expected value compression data so as to attain comparison of bit correspondence. As a result, when they are coincident, the result of test is taken as normal.
