1. A multi-cylinder internal combustion engine with individually-arranged cylinder heads (12) and with an air conduit (2) extending in the longitudinally direction of the cylinder heads above the laterally-mounted cam-shaft for the combustion air, wherein a housing (49) having a closed interior space (50) is provided for the reception and screening of auxiliary machines (1) and conduits (16, 22 to 24 and 30) especially for fuel and lubricating oil, characterized by the combination of the following features : a) the air conduit (2) comprises individual component pieces (3) each extending over one cylinder width ; b) each component piece (3) is equipped with additional walls (6 to 8), of which individual walls (7), starting form the cylinder heat (12), are provide with bores (26, 27) extending in the longitudinal direction of the respective wall (7), which bores are in communication with supply conduits (22, 23, 24) ; c) each component piece (3) is also equipped with stiffening walls (9) which comprise apertures (21) for conduits, pump linkages etc. and also serve as holders for single or bunched conduits and for assembly access covers (44). |
