This involves producing lasers of the superradiant type, exhibiting a divergence which is near or equal to the limit of diffraction and of very compact size. The laser device comprises means for selecting the divergence of an oscillator (15) via a telescope (22, 23) and of injecting it into an amplifier (16) without resorting to a synchronisation system, if cognizance is taken of the fact that the time of transit of the light (ttr=LTOT/c) in the laser unit is less than the radiative lifetime of the atom or molecule emitting the laser effect. <IMAGE>
