The disclosure teaches an electric hotplate. of the invention there is provided an electric hotplate. The hotplate includes a hotplate member and electrical heating resistor means. A covering sheet covers at least the underside of a heated zone of the hotplate and the covering sheet has an opening. A flexible electrical connection means having heat resistant insolation is provided for connecting the heating resistor means to a source of electrical energy. A connecting member connects the flexible electrical connection means mechanically to each other near their end opposite to the heating resistor means, the connecting member being mounted as to be freely movable. The flexible electrical connection means is of sufficient length to enable the connecting member to be operationally mounted outside the region of the hotplate.
