PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of damage and staining of a platen by using a system in which when setting a self-diagnosing mode, printing is made for self diagnosis on the basis of the content of right and left-handed marginal position memory. CONSTITUTION:Under the condition that a code key 7 and a printing startup key 9 are pushed down concurrently, a power source switch 28 is turned ON, and CPU40 is set in a self diagnosis mode. A thermal paper 22 is sent by one- line printing by the block 60 of CPU, the printing line of the paper 22 is positioned at the printing position, and a thermal head 26 is moved to the left margin position stored in the left margin register 43 by the block 61. While moving the head 26 by one letter from the left margin position to the right margin side by the block 62 of CPU, the letter is printed on the basis of pattern data from ROM. The block 63 of CPU makes a judgement on whether the head 26 reaches the right margin position stored in the right margin register 44 or not. |
