A leaf is arranged in a vertically adjustable manner on a support frame consisting of supports and end units (2) having legs. The rear leaf part facing away from the user can be vertically adjusted by virtue of the fact that the relevant leaf area rests on brackets which are vertically adjustable on a rear support. The vertical adjustment of the front edge of the leaf is effected by means of a device which has a crosspiece which can be raised and lowered via two toggle levers. For this purpose, the first lever (304) of each toggle lever is connected to the desk frame (2) in an articulated manner (301, 302), while its toggle joint axle (306) is guided in a slot of the crosspiece. The crosspiece is furthermore connected to the first levers (304) by means of the crank (309). Thus, each change in the inclination of the first levers (304) causes a change in the height of the crosspiece. The change in inclination is brought about by means of the revolving rods (310) being screwed into and out of the second levers (307) of the toggle levers, for which purpose a gear (3104) is arranged on the crosspiece. <IMAGE>
