PURPOSE:To enable formation of a uniform developer layer having no clogging by controlling the thickness of a one-component magnetic developer layer formed on a developer carrying body by means of a prescribed roll member and magnetic pole. CONSTITUTION:The layer thickness of the one-component magnetic developer 3 on a developer carrying body 5 is controlled by a nonmagnetic roll member 10 which rotates in the direction opposite to the body 5. An N magnetic pole is provided to a magnet roll 4 facing the member 10, in the position of an angle theta on the upstream side of the member 10, by which the rotating flow is generated in the developer 3 and the conveying force of the developer 3 to the control part is decreased. The foreign matter intruded into the developer is thus suspended into the rotating flow and even if a thin layer is formed by the member 10 for forming the thick layer, the uniform developer layer is formed without clogging. |
