A bi-directional channel spring is mounted by means of a plate to prevent rotation of the spring assembly relative to the upper fixture plate assembly of the fuel assembly. The stop member is formed integrally with the upper fixture plate assembly or mounted with a captive device to prevent rotation of the stop member relative to the upper fixture plate assembly.
