PURPOSE:To obtain efficiently the titled enzyme for quantitative determination of guanidinoacetic acid for diagnosis of renal disorder, by cultivating a strain, belonging to the genus Corynebacterium, etc., and having the ability to produce an enzyme decomposing guanidinoacetic acid in a culture medium, and separating and purifying the resultant product from the culture. CONSTITUTION:A strain, e.g. Corynebacterium sp. N-19-1 (FERM-P No.506), belonging to the genus Corynebacterium or Arthrobacter, and having the ability to produce an enzyme capable of decomposing guanidinoacetic acid is inoculated into a culture medium and cultivated, and the culture medium and cultivated, and the culture fluid is centrifuged to collect microbial cells, which are suspended in a buffer solution at 8.0pH.
