PURPOSE:To blur the joints of pictures in case a shift is produced among line image sensors by delivering selectively the picture signal of an overlap part of pictures of the image sensors in repsonse to the shift of these sensors. CONSTITUTION:A picture on a main scan line is divided and projected to plural line image sensors, and output signals of these sensors are connected successively to produce picture signals equivalent to a main scan line. In this case, an overlap part (m) of pictures is set to the sensor. The sensor picture signals are stored to RAM11 and 12 as well as RAM13 and 14 respectively, and the picture element of the part (m) are stored to shift registers 16 and 17. The outputs of both registers 16 and 17 are latched by latch circuits 19-21 and 22-24, and the coincident signals of these latch circuits are detected by comparators 25 and 26. The outputs of the comparators 25 and 26 are delivered to a control circuit 26. The circuit 26 discriminates the shift state of the sensor in the subscan direction and selects the picture signals of the part (m) by a selector 27. Then the picture signals of the part (m) are shifted successively in the subscan direction with the outputs of the selector 27. At the same time, these picture signals are selected by a selector 15 and delivered.
