PURPOSE:To carry out easily the concentration beyond the azeotropic composition by incorporating a functional membrane made of a raw material having a capillary condensation action to which a gaseous distillate is supplied and from which a separated gaseous flow can be obtained into a distillation process. CONSTITUTION:Porous alumina is formed by impregnating an optionally shaped base material of foamed silica, sintered alumina, etc. having comparatively large pores with boehmite sol obtained by hydrolyzing aluminum alcoholate or an aluminum chelating compd., drying the impregnated material, and calcining. A membrane separator 2 using the condensed component separating membrane thus obtained is provided at the top of a distillation tower 1, and a vapor flow 12 from the top of the tower is treated to concentrate the desired components beyond the azeotropic composition to obtain a flow 16 which is not permeated through the membrane and to reduce the desired components in the permeated flow 15 from the membrane which is liquefied in a condenser 3 to obtain a liquid reflux 13 to the top of the tower.
