PURPOSE:To enable to maintain favorable printing quality by compensating for missing of dots, by providing a detecting part for detecting and judging the presence or absence of a missed dot and the position thereof, and a controlling part, in a wire dot printer. CONSTITUTION:At the time of turning ON a power source or an initializing operation, a carrier part 3 is moved to the position of a piezoelectric element 5 for detecting missing of a dot, and in response to a signal from the controlling part 1, a printing head 4 sequentially releases all wires by one dot at a time relatively to the element 5 through a driving part 2. Simultaneously, the controlling part 1 judges the position of the missed dot. After printing a line, where a dot is missed, the controlling part 1 sends a signal to a line feed driving part 8 so that a normal printing wire is moved to the position of the missed dot, and a line-feeding motor 9 is driven to rotate a platen 10 to the position of the line, followed by printing only at the missed dot part in the line by the normal wire. Where missing of a dot is still present, the same printing as above is conducted. |
