PICTURE RECORDER

PURPOSE:To obtain a picture recorder which can use a picture memory of small capacity with reduced hardware load by moving reciprocatively a recording medium in the direction orthogonal to the main scan direction to increase the number of record picture elements and recording pictures to the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:The laser beam delivered from a laser light source 1 is modulated by a light modulator 2 and applied to a light deflector 3 containing a polygonal mirror. The deflector 3 deflects the laser beam over the entire width W of the record area of a recording medium A and supplies the beam to a fixed mirror 5 via an f.theta lens 4. Here a flat bad 6 adsorbing the medium A is moved reciprocatively in the subscan direction by the rotation of a feed screw rod 8. While a shutter 10 containing two plates prevents the laser beam from reaching the areas excepting the record area of a picture B1, for example. When the record is through with the picture B1, a motor 9 is reversed to set the medium A back to the record start position of a picture B2. Then the picture B2 is recorded.
