PURPOSE:To obtain a light AND circuit by applying the output voltage of an element formed near the coupling part between an output light waveguide part of a Y branched light waveguide and an input light waveguide part of a Mach- Zehnder type light waveguide to an electrode formed on one branched light waveguide part of the Mach-Zehnder type light waveguide. CONSTITUTION:When an input light signal IinA is ''1'' and an input light signal IinB is ''0'', light made incident on the input light waveguide part 21 is transmitted through the light waveguide parts 23, 31 and equally divided into two branched light waveguide parts 33, 34 by the Mach-Zehnder type light waveguide 3 and transmitted through these parts 33, 34. During the transmission of light through the parts 23, 31, electromotive force is generated from an electromotive force element 4 and applied to the electrode 5. The phase of the light transmitted through the part 33 is previously adjusted by the voltage applied to the electrode 5 so as to be shifted by pi. The light transmitted through both the parts 33, 34 generate the phase difference of pi, and when these light rays are combined at the part 32, the light power becomes ''0'' and a light signal Iout outputted from the part 32 becomes ''0''. |
