PURPOSE:To obtain a combustion apparatus, a rise time thereof is short and in which a bad odor and CO are hardly generated, by forming small holes near a wick at both end sections of a porous plate in arrangement more dense than sections except both end sections. CONSTITUTION:A combustion chamber is formed by a pair of porous plates 2, 3 mounted before and behind while holding a rectilinear wick in an oil combustion apparatus using the wick and a combustion cylinder, and small holes 2C are shaped near the wick at both end sections of the porous plates 2, 3 at intervals more dense than other sections in the same height as both end sections of the porous plates. Since the arrangement of the small holes at both end sections is made dense, the flame stabilizing capacity of both end section is higher than a central section, flames are stabilized easily, and the number of the small holes is increased, thus resulting in the number of flame stabilizing more than the central section, then augmenting heat supply capacity to the wick 1. Accordingly, the rising speed of evaporation at both end sections is also increased. Formations in both the front porous plate 2 and the rear porous plate 3 of small hole groups 2c have a large effect, but an effect is obtained even when the small hole group is shaped to either one of them.
