PURPOSE:To inhibit the self-corrosion of a galvanic anode before the damage of a paint film by combining a galvanic anode method with a coating method and covering the anode with a water soluble resin. CONSTITUTION:When the unmaintainable part of a steel structure submerged in water is protected from corrosion in a dock or the like, the part is coated and a galvanic anode covered with a water soluble resin is connected to the steel structure. Sodium polyacrylate or the like forming a film which is consumed in water at a fixed rate is preferably used as the water soluble resin. By this method the self-corrosion of the galvanic anode is inhibited by the water soluble resin in the early stage in which much electric current for electrolytic protection is not required because of the sound paint film, so the efficiency of electrolytic protection is increased and the life of the anode is prolonged. |
