PURPOSE:To enable to cope with various TV systems by one kind of solid-state inage pickup element by thinning out output of a vertical charge register at a specified rate, and accumulating and adding charge of two steps in a horizontal charge register simultaneously during one horizontal blanking period THBL, and outputting after attenuating the output into a half. CONSTITUTION:A vertical driving signal generator 13 transmits two transfer signals successively during the same period THBL at a rate of once every 5 or 6 steps, and after this period, generates a control signal SL that lasts for one scanning line. A variable gain amplifier 14 operates as an amplifier of 1/2 gain while there is the control signal SL, and in other time, operate as an amplifier of gain ''1''. Two vertical charge transfer signals phiV1, phiV2 are generated in 1THBL period every 5 or 6 when thinning out operation is made. Accordingly, an output signal 22 for succeeding 1 scanning line becomes signal amplitude twice that of output signal 23 of normal line. On the other hand, gain of the amplifier 14 is attenuated to 1/2 in this period. Thus, output VS becomes uniform amplitude, and thinning operation is also performed. Accordingly, the output signal can be used as video signals.
