PURPOSE:To obtain an engine response desired by the driver of a vehicle, by feedback controlling the quantity of intake air in the manner that the actual quantity of intake air is made equal to the desired quantity of intake air determined by the engine speed and the depth of depression of an accelerator pedal. CONSTITUTION:An operation quantity detecting means 21 detects the depression of an accelerator pedal. The desired value calculating means 24 calculates the desired value of the quantity of intake air from the output signals of said operation quantity detecting means 21 and an engine-speed detecting means 22. An arithmetic control means 25 calculates and produces a control signal for executing feedback control of the quantity of intake air in the manner that the actual value of the quantity of intake air detected by an air-flow signal detecting means 23 is made equal to the aforesaid desired value. Further, an opening control means 26 controls the opening of an intake system according to the above-mentioned control signal. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to automatically select response of the engine in accordance with the operational conditions of the engine at the time and to obtain an engine response desired by the driver of a vehicle. |
