PURPOSE:To automate decision making operation and to shorten its time by fitting a claw part in a tooth groove of a gear which is supported at a specific position rotatably around its axis, and extruding the gear from the stand-by position and detecting the movement extent of a measuring head which abuts on both flank parts of the tooth groove. CONSTITUTION:A guide cylinder 12 is elevated through the driving of a cylinder 16 together with a measuring head shaft 15, and a work 7 is placed on a temporary receiving table 8 and the claw part 14b of a rotation stopper head 14 is fitted in a tooth groove 9a of the gear 9. Then, the cylinder 16 is driven continuously to elevate and stop the guide cylinder 12, but the measuring head shaft 15 is elevated against the energizing force of a spring member 20 and the measuring head 15a abuts on both flanks of the tooth groove 9a. The up/down rod 17a of a dial gauge 17 is pressed down until a contact 17b provided to its lower end abuts on a contact 19a provided to the tip of a contact support piece 19 to measure the movement extent of the measuring head 15a between said abutting position and initial stand-by position, and a decision on the pitch is made on the basis of the movement extent to detect the kind of the gear. |
