A new compact flow heater is proposed, in particular for low-voltage drink preparation devices such as coffee machines with a heating element and a liquid-bearing pipe, in which the heating element (3) is arranged in the pipe (2) and, for separating water inlet and outlet on the one hand and the electrical connections on the other hand for the purpose of more convenient manufacturing of the corresponding connections, the pipe (2) has connection parts (6), in which the water supply (21, 12) and the current supply (14) to the heating element (3) takes place in two directions which enclose a finite angle in relation to one another. <IMAGE>
