<p>This vamp assembly includes a vamp (28) providing a lower vamp section (30) and an upper vamp section (32) interconnected by a lower flexible fastener element (44) and an upper flexible element (54) respectively. The lower vamp section (30) includes an inside vamp portion (34) having connections (40) for the fastener element (44) which are forwardly arranged relative to corresponding connections (40) provided on the outside vamp portion (36). The lower fastener element (44) is thereby arranged to apply diagonal tension forces to the opposed vamp portions (30, 32) when the fastener element (44) is tightened. The upper vamp section (32) includes an inside vamp portion (48) having connections (40) for the fastener element (44) which are substantially conventionally arranged relative to a correspnding set of connections (52) provided on the outside vamp portion (50) so that the upper fastener element (54) is arranged to apply perpendicular tension forces to the opposed vamp portions (48, 50) when the fastener element (54) is tightened.</p> |
