<p>A reduction in the number of moving parts, and a gain in simplicity of design, of a firing mechanism of a firearm, particularly for firing single, large-calibre rounds, is accomplished using a camming means in the form of a two-limbed crank (45). One limb (44) is connected to the trigger (41) of the firearm and the other limb (47) has a first (48) camming surface to lock the breech block (25) in a forward firing disposition and a second (60) to cock and release the firing pin (26). Also disclosed (Fig. 2) is means (82, 91) to retain a round in the chamber (14) until it is fired, and the release it for ejection from the chamber.</p> |
