<p>An optical fiber connection apparatus (10) includes a pair of mating connector halves (12, 14) each accomodating at least one optical fiber (17). A plug half (12) is insertable into a receptacle half (14) to provide optical connection between the fibers therein. The receptacle portion (14) includes a moveable cover (50) supported thereon. The cover (50) is moveable from a first position covering the receptacle (14) and thereby protecting the fiber therein to a second position opening the receptacle (14) to allow for insertion of the plug (12). The cover (50) is also moveable to lock the plug (12) into the receptacle (14).</p> |
