In an apparatus for printing labels with a stamping head (12), an intermediate roller (16) and an inking roller (19) with an annular casing (23) of an absorbent material, the ink is fed via a suction body (25) which rotates together with the inking roller and rests, together with a fixed contact, against the inside of the annular casing which is not acted upon by the intermediate roller. The lower part of the suction body is guided in a supporting tube (22) rotating with the inking roller and rotatably engages in a stationary ink container (26). As a result of this, any abrasive movement between the suction body and the inking roller is eliminated, and a very high service life of the suction body is achieved. <IMAGE>
