A large kitchen device, such as a tilting frying pan or tilting cooking vessel for electric or gas heating, in which the cooking container (2) is mounted so as to be tiltable between two lateral, column-type device parts, and a drivable tilting device is provided which brings about the tilting of the cooking container (2) from the horizontal operating position into an emptying position. A spindle (9) on which a spindle nut (8) is guided serves as the drive for the tilting device. Connected to said spindle nut (8) is a pair (7) of connecting rods, on which a lever (6) engages in an articulated manner (Figure 1), said lever being coupled to a bearing axle (3) on the cooking container (2). Additionally, a pair (14) of tension springs is connected to the spindle nut (8) and largely compensates the forces of the pair (7) of connecting rods. <IMAGE>
