Polyolefin compsn. having improved resistance to radiations comprises (i) 0.05-0.3 pt. wt. of an heterocyclic amine with steric hindrance; and (ii) 0.01-0.04 pt. wt. of 1,3,5-tris (3-OH-2,6-dimethyl-4-alkyl benzyl)isocyanurate (I) contg. 3-12C branched alkyl; or (iii) 0.01-0.3 pt. wt. of a phenol phosphite diphosphonite (II) for 100 pts. wt. polyolefin. The compsn. is claimed for use in medical instruments e.g. syringes and staples. It is also used for packaging foodstuffs. It is resistant to radiations used for sterilisation, i.e. it does not discolour or suffer degradation of physical props. |
