For pulling out drawer-shaped containers, a device is required which is arranged on the pulling-out shelf-handling device and is to be designed in such a way that the table of the shelf-handling device is only negligibly wider than the container to be pulled out itself. Proposed for this is a gripping truck which, via hydraulic cylinders preferably multiplied in displacement and having chain drives, actuates a gripping truck in the transverse direction of the shelf-handling device, which with gripping noses pulls the containers out of the shelf, then disengages from this position after reaching an end position on the table of the shelf-handling device, travels under the container itself by an amount equal to the length of the gripping truck, engages again at this location with a second gripping nose and transports the container without loss of space onto the table of the shelf-handling device. The return transport of the container is carried out in the same manner.
