PURPOSE:To simplify the construction of a rolling mill and the exchange of rolls by providing an accelerator used for changing the rotational direction to the space between rolling mills and driving the mill of rear stage through the accelerator. CONSTITUTION:An accelerator 8 is formed by engaging a large gear connected to a spindle 7 of the 1st mill 5 with a pinion connected to a spindle 9 of the 2nd mill 10, and is used as a gearing device for transmitting the driving power while changing the rotational direction. A material rolled in the X-direction by the 1st mill 5, is rolled in the Y-direction by the 2nd mill 10 through a repeater. The gear ratio of accelerator 8 is decided so that the material discharging quantity of mill 5 is a little larger than that of the mill 10. Thus the reversing of the rolling direction in a 2-high mill is made possible by said method, and the construction of mill and the exchange of rolls are simplified. |
