The individual units in a pharmaceutical preparation, which is administered orally and offers the possibility of controlled release and consists of many units, which units contain an active ingredient, are covered with an essentially water-insoluble coating which nevertheless permits the diffusion of water and thus allows for controlled release, which coating consists of 1: an inner membranous layer which comprises as a homogeneous combination a water-dispersible film-forming substance and a polymeric substance which makes the coating compressible; and 2: optionally, an outer membranous layer which comprises a film-forming substance, with which adhesion between the units may be impeded at high temperatures and with which the flowability of the units is improved. The coating permits satisfactory plastic deformation and does not result in any significant changes in the release characteristics of compressed coated units in relation to non-compressed coated units. |
