PURPOSE:To detect the degree of applied pressure in terms of the power and its direction of the applied pressure by using a finger touch type detector which contains plate springs attached in shifting by 90 deg. to each other and strain detectors attached to each plate spring, in the detector on which a finger is put on. CONSTITUTION:When a holder dish 4 is pressed with a finger, a push plate 26 moves toward the pressure applied direction. Thus one or two sheets of plate springs 18-21 are bent. For instance, the directions of plate springs 18 and 21 are defined as X and Y axes respectively. Then the power applied to the intermediate direction theta is defined as P. Therefore the power component PY of the direction Y and the power component PX of the direction X are applied to springs 21 and 18 respectively. The relations between both power components and the power P are shown by equations I . The electric quantities, i.e., resistance values of strain detectors 22 and 25 attached to springs 18 and 21 respectively are approximately equal to the power applied to these plate springs. Thus both P and theta can be calculated from the equation I after measuring the electric quantity of each strain detector.
