Coin handling and sorting.

A coin sorter for mixed denominations of coins that includes a rotating disc on the surface of which the coins are deposited and a stationary plate cooperating with said disc to separate the coins into a single layer and single file at an exit at the periphery of the plate. Sorting stations are disposed circumferentially about the peripheral edge of the disc, there being one sorting station for each denomination of coin to be sorted. A diverter is provided for directing coins leaving the exit to the peripheral edge of the disc where the coins are carried by the edge of said disc past the sorting stations for removal from the edge of the disc at the respective sorting station.
